Bank robbery is a federal crime. Should local police not get involved because it is the job of the FBI to enforce the law against bank robbery?

Many local politicians and police chiefs use this excuse. But their true colors show when the federal goverment asks for their help. In Los Angeles, all of the members of the city council (including now Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa) voted to have ex-cop Councilman Dennis Zine go to Washington to lobby AGAINST cooperating with the federal government.
